Alphabet Series

Ever since I conceived On Market Street, I have a craving to produce yet another alphabet book. For a picture book maker, an alphabet offers a rich theme with variations of twenty six  related pictures.

Alison's Zinnia was an indulgence in twenty six flower paintings that somehow in the linking of nouns and verbs became a selection for a language book

In Away from Home, I wanted to do a book on architecture and travel.  Again, the alphabet imposed itself. And here, the conceit was that no one went anywhere, but traveled in front of a stage backdrop.

Pierott's ABC Garden was done on request for the 50th anniversary celebration of Golden Books.

I now have a new ABC book, Animal Antics, coming in the Fall 2005.  This one is based on circus animals, acrobats and the idea of striking poses in front of an audience.
